I need MORE vegan friends around the world... AND on ARZone

Left to myself, I'd want NOT to involve my brief life in the fray of human conflict.  My approach has long been that I didn't need to love individual animals; restraint and ethically principled living helped me minimize the harm I caused others and to approach asymptotically a life of of noninjury - ahimsa.  Overly philosophical or not, I found my solace in several sources: classical music, as Aristotle urged; philosophy, as Schopenhauer urged; reflecting on the ocean as bounding our land-based existence, as Protestant neo-orthodox theologians like Tillich and Bonhoeffer discovered and noted in their writings; and plants - both edible and non-edible.  I've long been intrigued by (a) the very FACT of botanical growth, as the early Greek hylozoists and even modern Germans have tried to bend into a cosmic principle; and (b) the marvel of personhood which we find broadly distributed throughout animate life, a very natural foundation for our movement, as symbolized differently in the world's many wisdom traditions, secular and religious.
