Chimpanzee's Sad Escape Plea
A chimpanzee at a zoo in Wales has been filmed gesturing at the lock on his enclosure in an apparent attempt to get a visitor to release him.
The chimp is seen pointing at a window bolt and making an 'open' gesture to the people looking on.
He also connects his fingers together in a way that is similar to the American Sign Language meaning of the word 'gate'.
Unfortunately, the visitor to the Welsh Mountain Zoo who filmed the video is heard saying: "He wants us to lift the window up", and seems to find the desperate plea amusing.

I agree, Michael! I found that to be really upsetting too. Then again, should we be surprised that a zoo-goer thinks that captive nonhumans are amusing?

I find it so depressing that the people in the video find it amusing. Seeing that sort of indifference is very disheartening.
