We don't have a "how to" for ARZone, but any of us would be more than happy to help in any way we can.
It's not necessary to "friend" others in ARZone to get a dialogue going. There are lots of forum posts (under the main chat box) and blog posts (on the right of the screen) to participate in, if any of those interest you. You are also very welcome to start your own dialogue by creating either a forum or blog post. There are also groups, videos, the ARZone chat box and a few other ways of participating, all of which can be accessed on the main page by the links at the top..
The admins in ARZone are always available and very happy to help out too, they are Roger Yates, Barbara DeGrande, Jason Ward, Kate Go Vegan, Tim Gier and myself, so please feel free to contact any of us for help at any time, or just to say hi! :)
We have a Live Guest Chat this weekend with Katrina Fox, perhaps you're available to sit in on that? The live chats are another good way of participating in dialogue.
