Over 12,000 dogs and cats come through the Knox/Whitley animal shelter each year. Unfortunately most of those poor souls are euthanized. The website for this animal shelter is: www.knox/whitleyanimalshelter.com. I am a volunteer for this animal shelter and there is so much that can be done to help. It is my goal to raise awareness in my community and in our schools about the problems people create when they don't spay or neuter their pets and so much more.

At this animal shelter it costs: $50.00 to adopt or sponor a dog

$30.00 to adopt or sponsor a cat

You can become a volunteer at the animal shelter. You will not be asked to do anything that you don't feel comfortable doing. Simple things like taking dogs for a walk, sitting in a room and giving love to a dog or cat, help to feed the animals, help clean cages, etc, is greatly appreciated.

Many of these items are inexpensive, please add one or two of these items when you do your shopping. They'll take used towels and blankest, etc...you can even sew little pillows for dogs and cats. The need is so very great.
