Ex Battery Hens: First Moments of Freedom

Queenie, Belle and Ruby had spent their entire lives in battery cages being used as egg machines, until the owner of their factory, who no longer wanted to be in this industry, contacted Edgar's MIssion in Victoria, Australia to ask that they find homes for his 2000 hens.

These three 18 month old chickens were considered no longer 'commercially viable' and would normally face slaughter ... if it weren't for the factory owner who had a change of heart.

After more than six months, Queenie, Belle and Ruby have put on weight and grown their full feathers. To see how they're doing please watch:
