Yellow-Eyed Penguins at Penguin Place Dunedin New Zealand

One the the most rarest penguins in the world, About a half hour drive from Dunedin is New Zealands Yellow-eyed Penguin Conservation Reserve. Mr Howard McGrouther established the reserve in 1985. He now provides guided tours through a series of covered trenches and observation huts where the penguins can be observed emerging from the sea and resting in their native habitat. This conservation project is a multi-Award Winner and is entirely financed through these guided tours.

I still marvel at the uniqueness of all non human animal species. One cannot get around commenting that they are humorous, intelligent and just plain adorable. Were that not the case, they still need and well deserve protection that enables them to live a good quality of life.
