Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

Animal Advocacy Site Hacked by Countermovement Agents

Computer hackers are trying to shut down the Animals Asia website.

The farmers, who can make a fortune by selling the highly prized digestive juice as traditional medicine, have also hijacked blogs and internet forums to spread lies about the charity.

They even used the personal web page of a recently deceased blogger to invent bogus claims that Animals Asia staff stay at luxury hotels and fly business class.

Thousands of Asiatic black and brown bears are kept in tiny cages in filth-strewn barns all over China.

Holes are drilled into the animals’ stomachs and plastic tubes attached so the bile can be collected twice a day. The Sunday Express has called on the Chinese government to outlaw this inhumane treatment and has highlighted the work of Animals Asia.

The charity’s rescue operations have helped turn public opinion in China against bear farms but the wave of protest sweeping the country has enraged bile traders, who have turned to dirty tricks.

They would only resort to this if Animals Asia was being effective.  So while I'm not surprised to learn this I hope that people aren't fooled by this sabotage.

No, I think they are feeling threatened which indicates Animals Asia is being effective.  Otherwise they'd have left Animals Asia alone.  But the notion of a publicity stunt hadn't occurred to me so perhaps that's a possibility also.
