Animal Rights Zone

Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

Hey fellow activists

I'm 21 and I come from Lucerne which is in the middle of Switzerland and which again is in the middle of Europe :-) Now I won't say that Europe is in the middle of the world, haha.

Well, I study Philosophy for the 4th semester at the University of Lucerne and I love it. In my free time (of which I have a lot, hehe) I play several instruments and I play in a Traditional Irish Folk band. I like to go to parties and having a blast but also I love to discuss with friends and people in general (as long as a certain level of rationality is provided...).

I've been vegan since a little more than two years now. Before I was vegetarian for 1.5 years. I became an animal rights advocate at the same time I turned vegan.

Regarding animal rights philosophy I love the works by Tom Regan (which philosophy I follow but I consider every sentient being as subject-of-life).

I'm an active-member of the Swiss AR organisation "Tier im Fokus" (animal in focus) www.tier-im-fokus.ch

I recommend visiting the homepage to everyone who speaks German :-)

Now I'm looking forward to some great and deep discussions about animal rights philosophy here!

Best wishes from Switzerland!

Hi Urs,

Welcome to ARZone!

I too love the work of Professor Tom Regan. I think he's an amazing philosopher and I find him very easy to understand and agree with. ARZone are in the process of conducting an interview with Prof. Regan, which We'll be posting on the site very soon. That should be very exciting!

I hope you enjoy ARZone and please ask at any time if there's anything anyone can help you with.

Welcome!

I go to Baden-Dätwil every now and then in my work. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Switzerland wasn't the vegan desert I feared it would be. Also, the Swiss speak good English, making communication easy. The only thing with Switzerland that I didn't like was that almost all of your famous chocolates has milk in them.

Thanks for the welcome!

@Fredrik: Yeah, thats very disappointing with the chocolate. There are very few exceptions like a rice-milk chocolate or some deluxe-chocolate without milk. But there are some great fair-trade black chocolates tough.
