The Cove Runs Red with Blood for the Second Time this Season

dolphins being "pushed" into the cove

Taiji fishermen slaughtered the entire pod of an estimated twenty Risso's dolphins sparing the life of one to be sold to the Aquarium industry.

Yesterday Sea Shepherd offered to buy the lives of the captive dolphins. The fishermen refused saying that they would not sell us the dolphins to be released. They sneered at the offer saying it was
nonsense to buy dolphins to release them hinting it was like welfare and
they would not take hand-outs.

Instead they speared and stabbed the dolphins in the cove until the water ran scarlet with blood.

The Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians are on site filming the slaughter, restricted by numerous Japanese Coast Guard and police.

I believe that we really need people inside Japan educating the younger generations about this and providing viable alternatives. Until the majority of Japanese citizens stand up and denounce this, it's not going to stop. Many older Japanese don't care for the opinions of nations such as Australia and the US as they see us as hypocrites, which many of us are, but they do for the opinions of their own citizens.
Interesting, to think that the fishermen scoffed at selling the dolphins. It seems the dolphin hunters are just copping an attitude now.
Dear Friends,
Jan Marie, Thank you for posting this about the Dolphins.
We are so sad about this news that the Dolphins are being killed again! I really thought they would get away this time. Well quite frankly, personally i am a bit more than sad, i'm deeply distressed to the core of my being. I really think that killing Dolphins is the just as bad as killing a person & that those who do so intentionally should be charged with murder. I do not think even culture is justification for the murder of these innocents, as some Dolphin killers would like to excuse or rationalize it as such. There is NO excuse. Though i think i do understand what Carolyn is trying to say about continuing to create new awareness for those that just 'don't get it' yet. . The SSC Gaurdians have done so much to try to save these Dolphins, my heart goes out to them for the loss they feel must be even greater than my own, since they are there with them in person. It seemed like they came so close to stopping the slaughter & that even more would have died if they had not been there. Thank you so much Cove Guardians. I think we all (everywhere) really need to keep creating worldwide awareness about this horror & to keep increasing the heat on these Dolphin killers.
I want to help anyway i can. If i had enough money right now i would take a leave of absence from my current job & i would be there too in person, but i am there with the Dolphins with my heart & Soul. Every bit we donate to the cause can help support those who are there in person trying to stop this though. That is one way that those who can not be there in person yet, can help in the meantime & also by spreading the word.
I have some more ideas of what i would like to do as an Onshore Volunteer, but i need to wipe the tears away a little bit first & draw up the plan..it goes something like this..I want to start an 'Adopt a Dolphin Guardian' program. This would allow people to 'adopt' a Cove Guardian' & send donations directly to them through the SSCS so that they can keep defending the Dolphins & have some extra help with expenses. Those donating would have a picture of a dolphin/s & the Cove Guardian they are sponsoring, so that they can feel more personally connected to the hope of saving Dolphins. I really want the Cove Guardians to feel very supported in their difficult struggle, though I know that they are very unselfish & brave & would do it all alone if they had to. Does this make any sense, or is it my passion to save the dolphins letting my emotions take over? What do you think about my plan/idea in it's rough draft stage? Do you like this idea? Thanks for all you do, Love, Fellow Dolphin Friend, A. Neilson
Dear JanMarie,
The dolphin-murderers at Taiji Cove have captured more Dolphins as of Oct. 25, 2010!! They have captured a large number of Risso Dolphins & Bottlenose Dolphins! Please spread the word for helping them! To see more www.23skidoo.org & www.seashepherd.org
Thank you JanMarie.
Blessings, 'Apple
