Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

I have been becoming more vegan gradually, will try to get there all the way in 2010.

I feel improvements, not just physically but spiritually as well. Have noticed more though how annoying meat eaters are sometimes..so convinced and oblivious!

Glad you have this new place to gather,
Jeanine

I wish you all the best Jeanine. I will be your support pal in absentia. :)
that's nice, ty
Jeanine... I hope to eventually I get there... I became a vegetarian this past year. And I am a BAD Vegetarian! Now I eat chips and cookies. So, MY goal this year is to actually eat VEGGIES! and be healthier, in general, take care of the body that God gave me, so that I can fight the fight for our animals until the day I GO! I hope, one day to "go" Vegan, but am taking baby-steps, because I know ME, and if I try to do it all at one time, I'll lose it and give it up. I believe VERY much in what I (we) are doing... You are right, though... when you commit to this lifestyle, when you commit to animals, in general, you discover A LOT about people that you thought you knew...

Blessings!
so true, good going Cara ,
I watched the video this morning that's on this site about the book.."world peace diet", it's a little long but I'm hoping to become more solidified in my resolve to give up my favorite food salmon.

It's a bit long to watch, but confirmed some things I've felt for years.

J
Unfortunately, noticing how annoying omni's are gets more and more obvious as you progress. I've been vegan nearly 5 yrs now, and I'm pretty much at the end of my tether as regards to omni stubbornness and ignorance.
well thank goodness for a community of like minded people to help ease the frustration. lol They are so firmly set in their brutal ways..some of them and so convinced they are right..it's scary. For the animals especially.

The hardest food for us to give up has been salmon..and eggs..but I'm ready to stop. eating a delicious bowl of soup now, celery, carrots, 3 kinds of beans, rice, zucchini, soy sauce. I think my veganism will finally take deeper & firmer root this year.

I don't want to be unkind to omni's since it's taken me years to come around to these right ideas..but I loved the term "corpse cruncher"I saw on facebook..that term alone made me think.
Corpse Cruncher - EW!!!

I think what kills me the most is the ignorance... and the willingness to STAY that way. I truly do not try to force my beliefs on anyone, but if someone asks, I certainly expect my opinion to at least be respected... why is that so hard for peopel???

I see pictures EVERY day of these gorgeous puppies, dogs, kittens, cats that are going to be gassed... I think people just imagine that they go to sleep and I'm like NO, it isn't like that for them, it isn't like that for the cow that you just ate, nor the pig that you had for breakfast - I know it's two sides of the same coin, but there is just NOTHING right about the tortures our animals are put through. NOTHING.
Hey Jeanine

That's a great video, it's well worth watching all the way through, if you find the time. Dr Tuttle will be doing a Celebrity Guest Chat in a few weeks, here, in AR Zone, so you'll be able to ask him any questions you have, he's a great guy too :-)
Good luck Jeanine, it's such an important thing that you are doing, for yourself, the planet and the animals. I hope you can go all the way. All the best with it :-)
People are very apathetic Cara, it makes me angry too. Most people prefer to not know what happens. I remember ages ago a friend telling me off for posting some facts about animal abuse in FB, she said she didn't come on FB to see that stuff, another told me that no-one actually likes animal cruelty, but gee, we don't actually wanna KNOW about it. They're the idiots we need to get through to.
Hi,

Well I'm a lucky person that my mother is a vegetarian and had an influence on her children, she didn't force any choices on us, but she showed me how delicious tofu can be on her homemade bisquits. She's very healthy and in her 80's. She said she stopped eating meat after a visit to a slaughterhouse when she was young.

we've been vegetarian for years, but I'm ready to go vegan.
Good work Jeanine. :) <3
