Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

Well all I have to say is that ARCO - Animal Rights Community Online is still online and will stay online!

Spam has destroyed multiple online projects I started. To name a few:

* Vegan Force was overtaken by spambots and got my server suspended what cost me a bit of money just to get it reinstated (I had to close the site completely).
* ARCO's Abolitionists also was overrun by spambots and as it was pretty dead I decided to remove registrations (prob perm, unless it would become alive again).

* Vegan Shorts was used by spammers in email spam. Resulting in another suspension of my server (what cost me again money) as well as a suspension of the domain name (I didn't reinstate it as it was to expensive).

Just to make clear that the closing of the registration has nothing to do with wanting to be elite or whatever.

Just saw your comment so sorry it took so long to reply. I closed new registrations on ARCO at the end of last year to get rid of all spam accounts and stop new spam bots joining till I had upgraded the script. Sadly because of computer problems (and lack of time) I didn't get around to the upgrade yet.

But because we got some requests I have reopened registration for a short time (prob a week). I hope to get the upgrade finished by next month or so.

Please do not think we closed registrations because other activists aren't welcome. I would like to make clear that this was only done because of the always increasing spam that was destroying the board.

I don't know anything about the politics of this. I gather there are some, but I have only just joined here. ARCO comes across as a closed, elite group that doesn't allow any new members. Maybe it's not so, but that's how it appears. There seems to be no way to even APPLY to join. So, maybe it will die the death of attrition. I throw out this question - how can they advance the interests of non-human animals - NHA - if they have no outreach, and don't welcome new members?
