Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism
Seafood is simply a socially acceptable form of bush meat. We condemn Africans for hunting monkeys and mammalian and bird species from the
jungle yet the developed world thinks nothing of hauling in magnificent
wild creatures like swordfish, tuna, halibut, shark, and salmon for our
meals. The fact is that the global slaughter of marine wildlife is
simply the largest massacre of wildlife on the planet.” – Paul Watson

Hi Sam!
I agree with you. The ocean appears, to many, to be an infinite space, impossible to damage. The oceans are dying around us and people are refusing to see or admit what's happening.
Whales are beaching due to lack of food, sea lions are being killed because they dare to "steal" food from fishermen, sharks are being sliced up alive and thrown back in the water to suffocate and here in Australia we've just record sales of fresh "seafood" over the Christmas period.
People will one day realise that when the oceans die, the entire planet dies, but I fear by then it may be too late.
Thanks for your comments!

and some of them are the most tortured animals, as in France, people put poor crabs or lobsters alive in hot boiling water!!!!!! what an awful death! and eat lots of live oyters!...........but chinese eat cooked and living fish....awful! I saw a video, the poor fish is on the plate and still moves!!!!!
I really know why I don't "use" any of them !
I've seen that video too, blackpanther. The chef is considered to have failed if the fish dies too early. There's also a snake being chopped up alive and still wriggling on the plate -- same thing, the chef is a failure if there is no movement.
I think people find it easier to disconnect from marine animals.
do you have an explanation for that? some "vegetarians" even eat fish, it's such a contradiction!!!!!
And another remark: I think people don't really connect with the cow in their burger......LOL!
Yeah, some people can disconnect from anything I guess. I just think that because some marine animals are mistaken thought to not suffer pain, it might make it easier for some people to consciously disconnect.
If someone eats fishes they're not vegetarian. Isn't it funny how people like to label themselves in a certain way (vegetarian) to make themselves feel better, but still eat fishes, and some even chickens. It's like the people who call themselves vegan, but still wear leather shoes, eat cheese and make excuses for themselves when they're out for dinner.
No wonder so many people are confused. :)
I think people find it easy to disconnect from marine animals because they are (mostly) so different from "us" that they are hardly perceived as animals, or even living beings. People who can't connect with the lamb, calf or piglet on their plate are unlikely to care much for a fish or a crab.
And talking of crabs -- let's not forget all the marine invertebrates who are killed for human pleasure. They may not be as spectacular as whales, sharks and dolphins, but they are sentient beings and should not be exploited!
