Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

I've been a bit absent from these forums for a bit however I hope to be getting up to date with it now and turning up for guest interviews!

Anyway onto a subject that's been bugging me for sometime now I've had a look and found very little in the way of UK based podcasts that focus on UK issues and events, I might not be looking hard enough or just missed them entirely, I listen to a few myself from America and Canada that are really great they educated me about thinkers in the field like Gary Francione in accessible ways that possibly listening to a whole dedicated podcast might put people off (this was before he had a podcast anyway).

They also interview leaders of sanctuary's and vegan groups like Animal Equality and gave news updates from the area, even though they're from a another country and a lot of the info was worthless to someone on another continent I find them really interesting to listen to.

For me I think the movement is missing a big opportunity to motive current Vegans and helping new potential ones by not using easy means of information dissemination like this in accessible fun formats that budding activists and newbies can access.

So basically I was wondering if

a) I'm missing out on some brilliant podcast that covers a range of UK subjects

b) Do you think we should have one? As in a podcast that covers a wide range of issues from discussing the theory of veganism, information for new vegans, vegan culture, promoting current campaigns and groups currently active in the UK?

I've noticed this too Richard. New Zealand, Australia and the USA are great for podcasts but in the UK it's limited (I haven't found any either)

I would love to do one, but I feel I'm still learning, but it's definitely something I'm considering once I get more confident. The more voices out there the more people come across it and that can only be a good thing :)

I would love to see a European vegan podcast. Borders are for suckers, but they do a damn good job in stopping vegan information to spread. Germans speak to Germans, Swedes to Swedes, and French to French. Naturally, language is a big problem, but a large part of the young generation speak English and an English-spoken podcast would not only be enjoyed by UK residents, but by vegans like me (Swede).

If a UK vegan podcast started up, I would listen to it, hoping that it would also sometimes cover issues on the other side of the channel. Why not try to "hire" foreign correspondents, such as the talented Swiss podcasters of vegan.ch? Their podcast is in German, but they speak excellent English.

Europeans are great :) I love you :)

Any UK podcast would not be able to not be involved with Europe, the continent is so involved with each other now as a result of the EU that any issues here are undoubtedly an issue elsewhere.

I love that you suggested this Fredrik :)

As a podcaster, I'd recommend that YOU guys start one :-)

Theres a rather excellent show originating from somewhere in Europe, I forget the exact location:

Interesting, my next idea for a second podcast involves no real host, but instead airing voicemails sent in by listeners, with several clips played per episode about previous weeks experiences.  A nice Vegan shirt they made, a protest they saw, their thoughts on an interview, the upcoming episode of their own podcast, anything thats of interest to Vegans :-)

I'd be glad to offer any help I can to those interested in starting some kind of "UK Vegan Podcast"
