Lest We Forget: Steven Thompson, A Cove Hero
February 5, 2011

“Steven proved his point by jumping into the water and swimming out to the closest net. From there he tossed a ball over the net towards the captive dolphins. He wanted them to have some form of activity that could possibly take their minds off of their situation. We wondered if they knew that the next dawn was likely to be their last.” ~ SSCS Cove Guardain Scott West, October 11, 2010 Read More . . .

Elora West’s Ant City: A Cove Guardian Interview
March 29, 2011

From September to November of 2010, thousands of us followed Elora’s Malama West’s daily posts on her blog A Teenage Activist: This Girl’s Soap Box. She wrote from Taiji, Japan, where she went to protest the dolphin slaughters depicted in the Oscar winning documentary The Cove. She and her father, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society‘s Scott West, spent three months at The Cove documenting the barbaric evils of the dolphin hunters. I am honored that she granted me this brief interview. I am honored to know that our next generation is in good hands. Read More . . .

Thousands of servicemen died in April of 1942 — during World War II — while being forced to walk for days in the Philippines. In honor of these fallen heroes, thousands will be marching a similar route through a desert in New Mexico and Sea Shepherd’s Matthew Smith will be there.

Cyber Whale Warrior Hunter Shaffer
March 26, 2012

It’s no wonder that Hunter Shaffer’s dream is to swim in the ocean. He loves the inhabitants.

At the age of seven, he started to research fish. Having his own aquarium, he wanted to see that his little friends were well taken care of. As time wore on, he became well versed in aquatic nature. By the time he was 9, he was educating others on natural habitats and the ideal conditions for finned pets.

His online ventures gained him many friends and acquaintances. When he was nearly 11 years old, a biochemist at George Mason University introduced Hunter to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Learning that our ocean’s inhabitants were in such danger prompted him to become more than just an educator. He became an activist! Read More . . .

“And those who dismiss love for our fellow creatures as mere sentimentality overlook a good and important part of our humanity. But it takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal. And it is actually within us to grant them a happy life and a long one.”

Leilani proclaimed her Veganism a while back when she saw 'Forks Over Knives.' I am not sure about Elora, but I can pass it on.
