Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

Which app do you use on your android smartphone?

My main issue is that I'd like one that automatically downloads new podcast episodes. I want to open the app and click on the latest episode and listen, that's it - no streaming, no fiddling around with individual downloads for each and every podcast I subscribe to - I want it to be just like itunes where you just open itunes and listen.

I've tried:

Podkicker (individual downloads)

Doggcatcher (uninstalled because it does not work on my phone, and I don't want to spend hours on forums trying to figure why)

Rat Poison (wonderful names, eh? has the feed url issue)

Doubletwist (has a $5 podcast option I don't want to pay for without trying)

Google Listen (individual downloads)

Podcast Addict (instant uninstall, can't recall why, but I'm done with this one)

When I enter http://feeds.feedburner.com/ARZone in any of the above apps, it does not bring up new episodes. If I do happen to find the podcast within the app, it doesn't automatically download new episodes (as a function of the app, not a problem with the feed url).

itunes is problem free on the mac I use - but to get the podcast episodes onto my phone, I have to find the individual episode file and drag it into my phone when it is hooked up via usb - Doubletwist as stated is no help with podcasts.

I have an old ipod that works well - but I want to use my $%#%$# smartphone like I should be able to! Please help! :)

Hi Billy,

I use Podkicker and I like it (I believe Carolyn uses it as well), but you're right, it won't download new episodes automatically. Here's a podcast app for Android (MyPOD) that says it will do automatic downloads - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.my_pod.mypod&...

Thanks Tim, looks like the issue was that I had filled my phone's storage with one episode of another podcast before I started trying downloading arzone podcasts - so the various apps simply failed for the reason that the storage was full (as far as I can tell - I'm mystified when it comes to sd cards and internal storage and how files are routed).
Rat Poison seems to be the winner, for being free, and automatically downloading podcast episodes. It's a loser for having an uncool name.

Hey Billly,

I download all of the podcasts onto my phone, and I had the storage problem too. I bought a bigger SD card, which wasn't too expensive, now I can download heaps more!
