when looking through my photos you will notice many shark photos (of which more will be added at a later date)...as I love all marine and wild life....I have always had a larger fondness for sharks.

For anyone who is not aware: approx. 100 million sharks are killed every year, 73 million of that are brutally killed for their fins..finning is a cruel process. After the shark is caught, while alive the shark has its fins cut off, and then dumped back into the ocean to drown, which can sometimes take up to 3 days. All of this to make into "shark fin soup," a sign of status and respect among Asian countries and has been basically a mandatory (mostly by elder family members) menu item at weddings, banquets and so on. Very slowly some (younger generation) people are trying to have this removed off the menu...some have suceeded, however others, due to the intense pressure put on them by family and friends, give in to avoid these issues.
Other sharks killed are because of by-catch, such as longlines and nets which are indiscriminate in the life that it can take. Sharks, dolphins, sea turtles and sometimes even whales inadvertently caught while fisherman are trying for specific fish.
My hope is that more people get involved to help stop these crimes against nature, and to speak for the ones that cannot speak for themselves, before it's too late.
No animals = No humans.
