Vegan Messages of Love for Children

This group is for vegans with children in their lives. If you have told a child about veganism, please join our group and tell others about your experience. If you haven’t told any children about veganism, get ideas here.

One excellent strategy is to write a letter to your niece, nephew, or neighbor. Pop it in the mail. Congratulations! No longer are you complicit in the lie. No longer do you have to carry the guilt for your silence. Best of all, the recipient will thank you again and again. Wouldn’t you be grateful if someone told you the truth when you were young?

Sample letter:

Hi Camille,

I've thought long and hard about saying something to you. And although this is extremely difficult for me, I love you more than you know and I feel a responsibility to share my experience.

It took me 43 years to understand that there are things no one wants us to know. From the time we are born, we're indoctrinated into certain beliefs that just seem normal; in fact, they're extraordinarily self-destructive. Us, our parents, our grand parents, etc... and no one rebels because nobody notices that our culture feeds us lies. However, knowing what I know now, I resent that no one opened my eyes decades ago.

Our society makes every single one of us complicit in a web of insane perpetual cruelty. And, it is all related to why people are growing more obese, have cancer, have heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes, diabetes and a whole host of other illnesses. I love you. I don't want this for you.

I don't want you to grow up the way I did and self-destruct. You're precious and maybe it's a good thing for me to just be blunt about it. You deserve to be happy and healthy and live free of society's restrainsts.

When you're curious... when you know there's something not right, but you can't figure out exactly what it is... when you want to understand the secrets that nobody wants you to find out about... check out two things in your favorite search engine: "factory farming" and "vegan".
