Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism
From time to time ARZone will host workshops as an opportunity to involve all members in a conversation about issues and opinions raised in previous Guest Q&A sessions in order to think critically about those questions and answers, to involve all members in open dialogue, to explore certain issues more fully, and to consider the ways we can all become more informed and better advocates for other animals.
Rather than feature a guest, these workshops will be conducted as open forum discussions for ARZone members, facilitated by the site admins.
The proposed topic for this weeks session is “Vegan Education - What is it, How do we do it, How do we know whether it works?”
Here are five questions and responses from recent guests which touch on these issues:
In the first, from Philosopher Oscar Horta’s interview, the educative value of a campaign against bullfighting is considered.
In the second, from Sanctuary Director Kari Bagnall, how we all grow and change is talked about.
In the third, from Dr. Will Tuttle (The World Peace Diet), the prominence of a burgeoning vegan movement as portrayed in the media and discussed in some religious institutions is explored.
In the fourth, from Mary Martin, Ph.D, (www.animalperson.net), the words we use to describe ourselves and our activism - and how those words matter - are contemplated.
In the fifth, from Co-founder of PeTA Alex Pacheco, the importance of undercover work and lack thereof of “stupid human tricks” are put on the table.
Please read these Q&A’s by clicking on the links above, and think about what vegan education means to you.
Join us this weekend and share your thoughts on how best to bring the vegan message to those who aren’t already vegan. Tell us the obstacles you may have found in doing outreach, and tell us about your successes in overcoming them.
All members are encouraged to participate in this workshop, as well as to suggest topics for and participate in future forums in ARZone.
