Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism
My name is Jack. I am a 22 year past old meat eater, and a 2+ month vegan. I made the lifestyle change instantaneously once I watched a documentary my sister sent me entitled "Earthlings." Ever since then I have found a niche for documentaries shedding light on our sugarcoated American lifestyles that exploit the weak and unprotected.
Becoming a vegan has been the best thing to happen to my mind, body and spirit. I have more energy, drive and motivation in my everyday life. However, due my raised awareness and consciousness, it can be incredibly stressful and saddening when I think about all of the cruelty and savagery that our planet's inhabitants endure for something so insignificant like profit motives and societal conveniences. This is realization is both a blessing and a curse in my opinion.
I am currently an assistant manager at a Manhattan coffee company where I inform and sell customers coffees, teas, beverages and merchandise. I am a walking contradiction, where I support veganism and simultaneously serve cups of coffee with half & half or cookies with eggs and butter. It is my understanding that dairy cows endure the worst lives, where they are raped constantly in order to produce milk, where their young are taken away, and after they are used up; they are sent to the slaughterhouse for fastfood meat.
I dream of one working for what I support and believe in; to create a better future for everyone on this planet we all inhabit.
