Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

M. Butterflies Katz writes: Debunking ‘I Tried the Vegan Diet and Almost Died!’

You probably have heard or seen reports online of people who say “I tried being vegan and almost died” as their reason for why they are no longer attempting to be vegan. Celebrity; Angelina Jolie remarked in a news interview “I joke that a big juicy steak is my beauty secret,”- “But seriously, I love red meat. I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition.” Angelina was obviously not vegan, ever. Veganism is not a plant-based diet. If she understood the ethics behind veganism, she might have managed better. Once someone has their epiphany that we have no right to oppress and enslave other animals for human purposes, they soon learn how to get their proper nourishment from the plant kingdom, so as not to inflict cruel suffering on sentient animals.

The media and the world leaders are not being honest re climate change, the only way we will save this planet, and raise the consciousness so we can go into the next phase of our development, is to stop eating animals. The hottest shortest lived green house gases come from the animal industry. 70% of the amazon has disappeared to make room for cattle grazing and fodder for them, meanwhile 1 billion humans starve, and a child dies every 6 seconds from malnutrition,  while the animals eat the grain so the rich people on the planet can have meat. The animal industry cuts down our trees, the lungs of our planet, then the burn off from that, lands as black carbon on the ice caps, thus making them melt faster, and under the permafrost, there is a mass of methane that if it joins the methane and other hot green house gases such as nitrous oxide, we could  have runaway global warming, and once we reach that point, then nobody can help us - Except GOD of course. It is imperitive that we eat from the plant kingdom, there is no time to debate meat or not meat, and if we address the hottest shorter lived green house gases, then we will have time to pursue new green technology, so organic veggies and fruit first, then new technology. Anyone who has children, or knows exactly where our planet is situated in regard to global warming, needs to take time to seek out what suits them as far as fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, raw foods, or cooked vegan, vegan meats or plant based options, anything to get you there, and after 21 days, which is how long it takes us to break a habit, as meat eating is really just a habit we have acquired along the way. We slaughter 55 billion animals per annum, and with fish it brings the total killings up to 140 billion a year, that is not good energy to create on our planet and we must stop it now.
