Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

I suppose you have heard about the military banning power breeds from base housing areas completly, no matter how long you have your pet, and all the dogs that were granfathered in whom were already living there, they have to go. I am sure you know as well as i do, most of these dogs will be taken to shelters and not adopted in time to save their lives. I have written a letter to my congress woman, senators, and the president of the united states expressing my concern and disappointment on this matter and how it can be handled differently. i urge you to pass on this concern to everyone possible, and wright letters of your/their own so that we can open the eyes of the fearful and the ingnorant. many believe these breeds are naturaly aggressive, we have to shead light on those in the dark. I am also asking celebrity/Gov officials pitbull lovers/owners to help me out since their voices are much louder then mine. I am not looking for attention, funding, or anything else in return, just justice for our friends that cant stand up for themselves. they need our help. im sick and tired of Breed Spicific Laws (BSL) . Together we will make a change, Please help!

Story:

A young family contacted a friend, as a last resort to save their female American Pitbull Terrier, Hazel. She is 10 years old, she was grandfathered in on Camp Lejeune. For some of you that don't know, Camp Lejeune just had a ban go into effect all bully breeds must go, even those that were grandfathered in. This young couple refused to take their baby to the shelter, because they didn't want her to sit there and wonder what she did that was so wrong. Instead, they took their healthy baby of 10 years to a local vet where, they had her humanely euthenized. Our men and women are going over seas fighting wars, that they don't want to, because their country asks them to. Now, these same men and women are having to fight their country to save their dogs, their family members. This is in no way right. Lets put a stop to this breed specific ban law, educate the owners and ban the irresponsible owners that caused this. Hi Scot,

Welcome to ARZone.

There are many groups I have seen fighting this issue on facebook. One general movement that covers many shelter issues is the No Kill movement. There are lots of free resources for getting information about what No Kill means, and steps to implement it in any community. I'm not sure how the military changes the game in this case, but even if these dogs could be taken to No Kill shelters instead of being put down, it would save their lives.

http://www.nokilladvocacycenter.org/ - here's probably the best place to start.

well thats the problem, across the country the no-kill shelters are all filled up, as well as the kill shelters. there is simply no more room. we cant stand by anymore and hope someone does something about it. the more ppl write to the pres; congress, and senate, the more likely we will get noticed. One ant in your house would most likely get over looked, a million is an infestation and you would have to act...get it
