Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

My thoughts on the apathy of our society towards animal cruelty....

I will continue to fight for the lives of baby harp seals.... only now it is in the name of my best friend Tristan (the silver shaded persian kitty whose picture I used in my badge), who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June of 2009.... his passing at the age of 12 was a complete shock and occurred as a result of a reckless, insensitive human being. Anyone hurting an animal through wilful or reckless action should be thrown in jail or have the same fate inflicted on them that they inflicted on the helpless, innocent animal. It is appalling how cruelty to animals is not taken seriously. I view the soul of a non-human animal to be just as worthy (and in some cases more worthy) as the soul of a human animal. For me, there is no hierarchy of being.... except that non-human animals are so much more evolved in giving pure, unconditional love than most humans are. I adhere to Gandhi's philosophy that you can judge a society by how it treats its animals.

Dear Carolyn,
Thankyou for your condolences. My spirit is still reeling from the sudden and unexpected loss of my best friend Tristan. He was truly my soul-mate and losing him so suddenly and unjustly has left my soul with a heightened feeling of shock and disbelief. I do believe that he is still alive in the spirit realm, along with all of my other loved ones, both non-human and human.... and that I will be re-united with him one fine day. But for now, I just miss my boy so very much..... it is quite excruciating, even though I have so much love in other areas of my life and I am grateful for that love. Thanks again and keep up the good fight to obtain freedom, respect and mercy for all of our fellow creatures.

Hi Michelle,

I'm very sorry for the loss of Tristan.

I agree with you, non-human animals are capable of an amazing unconditional love which is very uncommon to find in humans.

Thanks for sharing this with us.
