Jodie, I sympathize with your position. I have taken part in many live export protests and probably will do so again. If there is no campaign of any sort attached to an animal abusing situation, then there is no dialogue with anyone and no opportunity to raise the issues at all. You doing what you are doing does not prevent others from carrying out their preferred method of campaigning.

If you can engage with the public, you are achieving something!

These animals are transported to countries where they are treated horrendously.  Tortured and killed by slow and brutal means. The Australian Government always holds up the economic value in supporting the meat export trade and makes ridiculous rationalisations about where these animals are going, such as that we will have more control by sending them to force an end to these practices than by banning transport. The trip by sea is dreadful and what happens to them when they get there is so horrendous they won't even show it on TV. I do not support killing animals but where we know of animals being subjected to torture in the process I think we need to do something about it. If we can end the live animal exports trade, it may result in a reduction in export and as a consequence reduction in numbers being killed. This is something that needs to be done urgently.
