Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism
Hi Pranav. It is a concern these recent attempts to counter animal rights groups and to try to make animal rights activism illegal in some situations posted on this site.
What this does imply is perhaps a McCarthyist hunt for animal rights supporters and I am wondering if it will reach the stage of making it illegal for individuals to, for example, write letters to a newspaper to express concern about cruelty inherent in factory farms.
Interesting that this agri-women group has emerged. Contrast that to the notion that feminist theory should recognise animal rights.
In Australia of course we are still going through the live animal exports issue, and waiting on the government to respond to the latest outrage. Their last response was supposed to address the cruelty exposed on national TV several months ago, and has obviously failed. So I will watch to see what the peak body representing these farmers will say to try to continue their trade.
