Fighting for animal liberation and an end to speciesism

Suspect held on specific law banning eating pets.

"The cop said, 'well -- you know what -- there's some strange things in that house. And, yeah, he's eating animals.'"

At the D.A's office, Yraceburn said the law banning the eating of pets was enacted in 1989, and amended in 1996.

"It makes it against the law to use companion animals, or animals that are commonly kept as pets for food," Yraceburn explained. "Plain and simple."

Eyewitness News checked the law, it also does not apply to "...any livestock, poultry, fish, shellfish, or any other agricultural commodity produced in the state."

I have always found it a bit strange that people get so upset about eating dogs in countries like Korea, but will happily munch away on lamb or pig.

Very disturbing behaviour and goes beyond just treating cats as a food source.  From the story it appears this psychopath was doing this for some time and I just wonder why people won't intervene when they know this is happening.  There are so many stories about people doing dreadful things to animals that it truly beggars belief why there is so much reluctance to report these goings on.  I hope this person gets a psychiatric assessment in any case, he needs help.  Cruelty towards animals is well known to be a precursor to serial killing, so this may well have been timely.  It's interesting to think about as a range of behaviours from serial killing to veganism.  If a person has no compassion towards animals then they aren't much value as a citizen either.  And people wonder why I'm a vegan!
