THIS IS THE 25 ANNUAL INTERNATIONL COASTAL CLEANUP WEEKEND

If you can not get on a clean up crew near you then, do what you can

where you are. It does not have to be at the ocean. Got o any

waterway and encourage friends and relatives to do the same. Even if

you only pick up one handful of trash, think of how much that will help

if everyone does the same. If it is impossible to do this you can help

by asking congress to pass a better bill that will not allow as much

waste to added to our waterways. Here is a link for that.… Continue

Why a former avid hunter became vegan ~ Cameron Blewett

Cameron Blewett came from a meat-eating household and for a time was a keen hunter; killing kangaroo, rabbits, deer, pigs, and other animals in the name of conservation. A cut finger led to his epiphany and journey to vegan activist and educator.

I was brought up in a totally meat-eating household. There were animal products served with pretty much every meal. Breakfast has some cereal with cow’s milk, and toast with butter, lunch was the usual… Continue

Discovery Channel Gunman Is Not an Ecoterrorist if I Am ~ Andy Stepanian

Instead of feeling relieved after Wednesday's crisis at the Discovery Channel building ended without injury to any of the hostages a small group of opportunistic pundits and special interest lobbyists salivated. The day they had been waiting for for quite some time had arrived; a sick man named James Lee, with a political agenda as

imbalanced as his mind had used potentially deadly violence in furtherance of what seemed to be an…

Sometimes Satan Comes As a Man of Peace ~ Tim Gier

He’s a great humanitarian, he’s a great philanthropist

He knows just where to touch you, honey, and how you like to be kissed

He’ll put both his arms around you

You can feel the tender touch of the beast

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace

Bob Dylan

Lee Hall's Speech at the 2007 London Vegan Festival ~ Abolitionist Online

Lee Hall’s speech at the recent London Vegan Festival, which took a hard look at the international expansion and the “Animal Compassion” rhetoric

of the organic superstore Whole Foods Market, is a magnificent study in

how certain sections of the animal rights movement caved in to

financial interests and to self interest. In personal correspondence

with the editor of the Abolitionist, Lee Hall had this to…

Why I Am NOT a Veg*n ~ Barbara De Grande

Recently, on a vegan forum, I commented on the use of the term

“vegetarian” or “veg*n” rather than “vegan” while promoting animal

rights. It seemed to unleash a storm of criticism and ad hominem

attacks: “Someone is VERY NEW….,” ”so fundamentalist in nature,” ”is

there ANY evidence base whatsoever…? ” My comment was in response to

the posting of a…

The Army of the 12 Monkeys ~ Tim Gier

Sometimes things seem so hopeless, the odds so stacked against us, the obstacles

so great, that we want to lash out. If we could only grab the world by

their collective shoulders and shake some sense into them. Why can’t

people see what we can so plainly see?

Our cause is just and our motives are pure. Perhaps it is time to take action, to take it to the streets, to bring our…

Biodiesel

NATIONWIDE RECOVERY SOUGHT FOR GRAY WOLVES

Nationwide Recovery Sought for Gray Wolves

Wolves once roamed across this country, and it's time their recovery had

a nationwide scope. That's why the Center for Biological Diversity

filed a scientific petition Tuesday to reestablish gray wolves in

several connected populations throughout their historic habitat in the

United States. Our petition calls for a recovery plan to bring back

wolves in suitable areas in the Pacific Northwest, California,… Continue
