It seems to me that what the AR movement is lacking is an AR movement...I mean that there seems to be a distinct lack of campaigning specifically for animals to have rights...

yes many campaigns against eg vivisection, 'meat'/dairy, fur etc - and rightly so - but imho we need to have an AR campaign...I know some seem against promoting AR specifically at this time but I genuinely do not understand that.

The Cape Fur Seal is listed on appendix 2 of CITES as endangered. Each year, 85 000 baby seals, still dependent on their mothers are beaten to death at Cape Cross and Atlas bay in Namibia. A further 6000 bulls are shot. It is the largest slaughter of wildlife on earth and responsible for more deaths than the Canadian cull.

The Namibian government tamper with the actual seal population figures, they inflate their numbers to justify a higher quota. See this link …

A big name movie star, sports star or music star would bring the much needed publicity to the Dolphin Holocaust that exists today in Taiji, Japan. The barbaric hunters would be foolish to conduct their hunts amidst the media presence that would be attracted by a well known celebrity.
