Back to the mysterious world of stock and stock-making.  That's alot of work you put in. Thanks for your detailed instructions. I appreciate it. Just as a sideline, how do you feel about herbs such as lemongrass being used in a stock. I do make my own stock on occasion when I have time. I favour sea vegetables such as arami, wakame, keranga, nori and dulse in general. I have taken my queue from Holly Davis in Australia having attended one of her vegan classes once. How about yourself? What are your views on lemongrass and sea vegetables as part of the whole approach to excellent stock-making?

Dino, I have your fantastic cookbook 'Alternative Vegan International Vegan Fare Straight From The Produce Aisle' on me. Here are just three questions for you based around the cookbook. Thanks. Some of the dishes we have never heard of such as Locro de Pape, Venn Pongal, Beurre Mani and Erissery (I know it as Kootu) etc what was your main motivation for bringing to the table of vegans these particular choices? Are you that exotic yourself? How are the sales coming along with "Alternative Vegan'?

Kerry, I thought I would like to make contact with you having just read your excellent posts on the subject matter of Coyo yogurt. It is Australian. Thanks for your vegan views. Coyo yogurt (they have a greek variety that is vegantoo) is a main contributor to getting it right with indian dals (daals) in my view. The disparity in cooking individual dals is astounding in accordance with this and that cookbooks. Coyo yogurt is just the thing to perk up a dal or vegetable sabji. As an aside, coconut yogurt has the same effect as was once used in the same way as a cooks beloved garam marsala I found out and what to share with you. I don't have shares in the company of Coyo by the way.

You are most welcome Carolyn.  I'll need to get myself a yoghurt maker so may be a little while until I get my first batch (-:

This is brilliant, Kerry! I am totally addicted to coconut milk at the moment and try to add it to everything! My local Health Food Store sells this, but it's quite expensive.

I'll try it this week if I find time, but please let me know how yours turns out when you get a chance to make some.

Thanks!  :)

Hi Maynard.  Did you open the link?  It's a recipe for home made coconut yoghurt.

Is this vegan RECIPES or vegan PREPARED FOODS?

Recently discovered a new product here called COYO, which is a brand made in Australia that makes coconut milk yoghurt and ice cream.  It's on the expensive side but heaps better than the soy products widely available tat I don't really like. I found a recipe on the Net;

I'll give it a go over the Christmas - New Year break. The COYO yoghurt was absolutely delicious.

I thought for those who may be looking for a good quality vegan B12 or D3, check out the ones on this website.

I buy quite a bit from here as it's much cheaper than buying in Australia. Now that it's almost the busiest time of year for wildlife rescue when the they start coming out from the winter with babies in pouch I rely a lot on the nutrition bars to take out on a rescue. The Vega products are really good and give a great energy boost.  I am delighted to see now that Vegan Proteins stock vegan B12 and D3 as well.

I have recently become aware of the nutritional vale of hemp seeds.  They are illegal to buy as human food here in Australia but can be bought for livestock (suitable for humans too), but legal it seems rest of the world. For anybody not aware this link is informative.
