VegNews Magazine Endorses Animal Testing Legislation?

Many of us are concerned with the animal testing status of our cosmetics and skin care products. Websites like Leaping Bunny have devoted their entire existence to ensuring the public has easy access to cosmetic companies that no longer test their products at any stage of development.  How would you feel if this were no longer an option?  There is currently legislation that could eliminate your choice for… Continue

Response to Oscar Horta’s Paper (“What Is Speciesism?”)

Thanks again, Kate, for the link to Oscar Horta’s paper, which I am very glad to have gotten. To avoid wasting space or being too tangential, I am responding to it here, rather than as part of the David Nibert dialogue.

Professor Horta does a good job in laying out the philosophical options, and, in fact, ratifies my own point when he writes: “The term ‘anthropocentrism’ should be clearly distinguishable from ‘speciesism.’ These two words are not synonyms.” (p.…

My Birthday Wish | The Cove

I’ve come a long way in the last year after first viewing The Cove movie. It has launched me on a mission wherein I shall not back down or relent. I don’t get paid a single cent to do what I do. I do it simply because it is the right thing to do. I do it because I want my children to forever know that I did all that I could. The atrocities in…

I believe it’s important that ‘movements’ work together to overcome all forms of oppression.  Anarchism holds the most promise for the foundation of the new society we know we must…

Consistent vegan message in art?

Maybe it's just late and I'm over thinking this ... but

What are the "vegan values" for including animals and things like eggs in visual art?

This is one of my paintings, which includes an image of an injured/dead bird.

Cyn McCurry, a fabulous artist, does paintings which include images of eggs ... like this…
